The ALS Ligue Belgium vzw is a non-subsidized, non-profit patient organisation which aims to give ALS patients an as high as possible quality of life during their last years. ALS or Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis is an incurable nerve-muscle disease in which the motor neurons die off with paralysis of the muscles as a result. Patients die on average 33 months after the diagnosis, without hope of a cure.
The ALS League supports patients and their families on psychosocial and administrative level, via a lending service of tools for mobility and communication (Mobility & Digitalk), by defending their rights at the Government level, by encouraging scientific research and funding such research through the Fund “A Cure for ALS” and by providing personalised support through the Fund “MaMuze”. More information about ALS and the ALS League can be found on the website www.ALS.be/en.
