The Vlaamse Jeugdherbergen (Flemish Youth Hostels) is the umbrella organisation for 22 hostels in Flanders. The non-profit is also a member of Hostelling International, the largest network of youth hostels in the world. All over the world, hostels have one mission in mind: providing everyone with the opportunity to travel and discover the world. We strongly believe that travel is a right for everyone, regardless of age, origin, income or any disability whatsoever.
Creating All-In Hostels
Last year we teamed up with Wetravel2, an organisation specialized in travel for people with physical disabilities and a consultant for accessibility in the tourism sector. Together we want to create All-In Hostels, hostels where everyone feels welcome, no matter what barrier. Today, we offer 13 hostels which are fully accessible for wheelchair users and people with disabilities in general. Each of these 13 hostels carry an A or A+ label from Visit Flanders, which indicates the level of accessibility.
